What model of a Linksys do you have? I most likely does come with a
firewall, and turning it off is easy. Browse around the router menu, you
will find it somewhere, it's not hard to find. Turn off the firewall in the
Linksys or your server will not appear on the master list. It defaults to
on, so if you did not turn it off, it is on and blocking your server.

Set sv_lan to 0. Isn't this the default? I don't have an sv_lan entry in my
cfgs, and my server works fine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think
that unless you are wanting a lan server you would not put a sv_lan entry in
your cfgs.

What port are you forwarding? udp, tcp, or both? I forward UDP 27015 and
27016 only. No other ports. Server works fine.

This is my setup:

Centel DSL -> Westell 2100 modem in gateway mode -> Linksys WRT54G -> Server
box.

I forward port 27015 and 27016, UDP, to the server box. 2 ports because I
run 2 servers. I have firewall turned off. I start server with

hlds.exe -game gearbox

That is all. Server runs, is on master list, and has players. Ook's Steaming
Pile of 2343 crap maps - Fast Download! found at OoksServer.no-ip.info (it's
a gearbox or OP4 server). My OZ server is at OoksServer.no-ip.info:27016

The Linksys has an external IP of what my ISP gives me. I set internal IP
range to 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.50 (because it's a carry over from my Cisco days,
and it's easier to type then 192.168.0.1). I have a Netgear wireless router
connected via cat5. DHCP server in netgear is OFF. IP for netgear is
manually set to 10.0.0.100. Clients connecting to Netgear via wireless use
the DHCP server in the Linksys. Works good, I don't have to do anything to
the Linksys to get this to work. Firewall in Netgear is off. I have both of
my girls computers connect to it via wireless, and they play on my op4
server all the time.

When you connect to your server from a box on your network, what IP do you
use? If you use your public IP that your ISP gives you, you are probably
going out your router->modem->comcast land and back again. Ping could be 50
or worse. You should connect to your internal IP, if you don't already know
this.

Subject: [hlds] Server not in master list

--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Ok first thing, i tried typing in sv_lan =3d 0 and i restarted my server.
When it came back on it couldnt connect to the steam servers and couldnt
add master servers. From there i changed it back to 1 and it connected
fine. Im not sure if thats good or not so i could use some feedback there.
My router that i use is a Linksys and im sure that the ip adress the ports
are forwarded to is correct. However, im not sure if it comes with a
firewall. The ping on my server has been between 20 and 50 since i did the
sv_lan thing. That comes as an improvement since before is was ranging
between 0 to 10.
Any sugjestions would be appreciated. Thankyou
