Whisper, They have called the gametype "cstrike_beta" - so you are installing a new version of cstrike- whether this actually changes the core hl2 libraries/resources - I don't think it does..
Try: 1) Make a copy of your hlds/cstrike folder. 2) Rename this copy to "cstrike_beta". 3) Issue the update command that Alfred provided. 4) Start your server with "-game cstrike_beta" instead of "-game cstrike". Follow these instructions and you should be able to switch between the two by changing the -game parameter on the command line.
