The location of the error is rarely (if ever) useful. There usually is an error message before it that might be slightly useful in that it tells you what exe and sometimes what module the error occurred in.
This error information is also logged in the OS error log: control panel > administrative tools > computer management > event viewer > application Especially with a stand-alone dedicated servers, these sorts of errors can happen with: 1. bad plugins ... remove all plugins including metamod if used and see if the error still happens 2. bad custom maps ... run only stock maps and see if the error still happens 3. bad or corrupt server install .. run hldsupdatetool with -verify_all If you do memory testing I highly recommend memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com) and run at least 3 full passes. One very important rule-of-thumb with system memory is never to mix memory sizes, IE: it's better to run 2ea 512 then 1ea 512 + 2ea 256 and always match memory speeds on pairs. Thermal problems can also cause problems like this, most typically bad fans or a loose cpu or inadequate northbridge heatsink or old thermal grease on either. A very good program to check for overheating is to run prime95 (http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm) and run the torture test (read the documentation). qUiCkSiLvEr ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sir Fragsalot" To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, December 30, 2006 2:55 PM Subject: [hlds] what does this memory error mean?
"The instruction at 0x00932723 referenced memory at 0x1091009c. The memory could not be read. " Only happens when I run servers for Half Life Source mods. Only happens when I run the dedicated standalone server. Doesn't happen for any other server I run or when I run Half Life listen server. I ran two ram checks/tests and there no problems with the ram. Already tried google. Anyone else ever seen this error and solved the problem? Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
