[ Converted text/html to text/plain ] Your having problems with a new version of windows and you want to move to linux for less hassle? Good luck with that. You guys need to give Manufacturers some time. Vista was just released today. Give it a few months and the drivers/support will be there. Same thing happened when XP came out with its "Crazy new security." Now its the standard that everyone loves. Give Vista a year and it will be the standard just as XP is now. Mark my words on it ;) I run my steam games on Vista just fine. I dont have an insane sound card either though. Now Im just waiting for Nvidia to get SLI working again so my other video card doesnt get any more jealous =D Brian M. Frain wrote:
Because eventually the world will move on and so will we. I see no reason to wait another few years (you say 4 at least, any info to back that up) till they stop supporting xp then trying to hurry up and learn about linux, all its variations, and how to do what I need. That would just make for a bad server tech in my opinion. I don't really see how the question was meant as anything helpful. It definitely isn't relevant. Everyone else seems to be enjoying the discussion and it does affect us all so it is a worthy topic for debate. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Roman Hatsiev Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 1:09 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds] Counter-Strike 1.6 Vista sound issues If you like your XP I wonder why you may need to look at linux? XP will be supported by MS for next 4 years at least. On 30/01/07, Brian M. I am not one of those MS haters and I do like my xp but I am just in awe at some of the decisions they made this time around. I have been seriously looking at a linux alternative. I am wondering how well Valve product server and clients run on linux and this is definitely the place to ask. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ðåñ Offord Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 12:13 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds] Counter-Strike 1.6 Vista sound issues -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Funny, that article was linked in the very first post... Creative are working on another version of DirectSound, but very few games support it. Also, Valve would be advised to fix this, do they really want there loyal gamers, who upgrade cause games don't support DirectX 9, having awful sound, when they have a fairly new Sound Card On 30/01/07, Brian M. I am sure if you google it you will find an article about it.. My point is it doesn't seem as if it is something Valve can or even should try to fix. Go yell at Bill Gates or Creative and tell them how stupid that decision seems (I say seems cause maybe they know something we don't). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Clutch9 Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 4:03 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [hlds] Counter-Strike 1.6 Vista sound issues I've had many problems concerning CS1.6 on Vista. EAX not working and others. http://pc.ign.com/articles/759/759538p1.html[12] might be an interesting read. Maybe it's time Valve reprogrammed CS1.6 to comply with Vista? I'm sure they've not yet completely given up this project, as it still bring in money. However I am not sure they know why they cannot increase the price a little, as cheaters seem to have no troubles buying new accounts. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds[13] -- No virus found in this incoming message.
