Cold Ice uses the hpb_bots, and IIRC that project was abandoned a while back. I
do have the source for Cold Ice, but the latest incarnation of hpb_bot is still
not very stable. A complex custom map will crash them with ease. I'd like to
integrate rhobots into it, as it is more stable and doesn't use wayfiles, but
that project likewise got abandoned, and I don't know where the source code is.
The Oz makers took rhobot code and did a lot of work on it, but again the
project was abandoned (or at the least, not finished).

I tried running a dedicated server without bots a while ago, and while it
worked, it was very unstable. I've never found listen servers to be
exceptionally robust or stable, but I'm curious as to how well yours runs?

There is a new version of Cold Ice, and I have the source for it, but it is
unfinished, and at this point is probably not worth the trouble it would take
to finish it. I technically have the rights to continue the Cold Ice project,
bestowed on me several of their previous project members, but what I want to do
this spring and summer is take that concept and build my own mod, loosely based
on Cold Ice, but built in Half-Life Deathmatch:Source or HL2, from the ground
up using the current SDK.

Though I prefer hldms, building a mod for it right now is very risky. Unless
Valve gives some indication that it has a future, I don't think I'll waste my
time with it. It's currently beta quality, has a minimal following, and no one
knows if Valve is going to finish it or not. The fgd for making maps is
incomplete. I added my entries to get func_push working, but item_jump is
missing (I'll probably add that this weekend).

Hey Ooks, if you disable the bots in cold ice you can get a listenserver
running!

I wasn't able to get a dedicated server running yet but you might take a
look and see if you can update the bot engine.
