I believe it would help this list if you guys would be abit more specific with your xeons, a P4 based xeon is not even vaguely similar to a core2 based xeon, and most of the problems seem to be cropping up with the P4s.

I have a Xeon 2.4GHz Dual Core processor. I run two 32 player servers and one 26 player server. I use srcdsfpsboost. CPU usage hangs around 70-80% and I do not have issues with lag. If I close srcdsfpsboost, I see a drastic drop in the CPU usage but it leads to server frame rates that occasionally drop to the 50s or below which has a noticeable effect in game. I use the following rate config: sv_minrate 2000 sv_maxrate 20000 sv_maxupdaterate 85 sv_minupdaterate 10 sv_maxcmdrate 66 My network usage is about 700-850KB/s upload and 260-290KB/s download. I run game servers exclusively on that box and have not had an issue with lag. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of leo bounds Sent: Tuesday, October 23, 2007 6:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [hlds] TF2 Server laggy above 20 players Hello, I am hoping someone will have some good input about this issue I am having on one of my servers. The server is dual zeon 2.8ghz. CPU usage 30% or less at full load. Memory is non-issue Network Less than 19% capacity I have ruled this out as neither a hardware issue or network problem. What happens is when 20 or more people join this 24 man server it gets really laggy and people start complaining that it's unplayable. The server is running at 66 tickrate with these rate settings in server.cfg: sv_minrate 4000 sv_maxrate 20000 sv_maxupdaterate 66 This is a windows 2003 server not that it makes a difference. It does have Beetlesmod current version on it. Alright, I think that's all my details. The hardware should be able to handle this no problem and it's not a hardware load issue at all. I spent about 2 hours monitoring this tonight to verify that with feedback from people playing. Searching the net I have found several people complaining about lag issues on TF2 servers also. I haven't seen any solution in this thread yet unless I over looked it. Can someone provide a helpful solution to this problem ? Thanks very much for your help, LB __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
