Personally I find it extremely annoying to go through the jungle of quoted text just to find couple precious words of wisdom buried in there. I'm not damn Indiana Jones, I'm just lazy admin.
And I don't really care about people quoting too much - Gmail just hides it, maybe you should get decent mail client instead of attempts to educate people?
