I'm guessing that just has to do with the language the program is written in and it only affects how the path is displayed on screen or in a logfile. In c/c++ paths can be stored in the code as either "C:/dir1/dir2" or "C:\\dir1\\dir2" if two paths like this were concatenated, you'd get something like what you're seeing.
