Oh com e on Valve! what??

That is an awesome console feature - but for a PC is almost as stupid as
Windows Live for Gaming (if not worse!).

Our community was planning to run some L4D servers - and now I cant be
bothered because it sounds like the effort just to get our people into our
servers would be far too much!

Added to that I have mentioned this feature to the guys in our community who
were planning to buy the game on release: so far about 20-25 out of the 33 I
chatted too have decided that it is too restrictive a feature and most are
looking instead at Fallout 3. One I believe has pre-purchased the game and
wants to know if he can have a refund?? Extreme reasction maybe (and
probably not representative...) but for such an eagerly anticipated game to
be potentially killed by one silly feature has got to be bad.

I plan to buy it because I have to review it for various places: but I dont
se myself playing it much if this is the only way of finding servers :(

It means I have to join a server before I decide if I like the look of it or
not. Usually I decide (as do most people I think) off of how many people are
in the game, who they are (if we recognise any), who the server belongs to
and the server title. Joining the game to see all of this just eats up time
(especially if your picky and have to go through 15 servers to find a good
one!).

I fear your facing some really bad reviews over this :(
