Having sv_password functioning as it usually does is in other games would be most appreciated, gives us a way to have an adhoc way of completely blocking server access to anyone who does not have the password.
Eg, on my TF2 server (if the Steam Community filtering here were to be applied to that game) I have a community group who would have access, but theres more people than there are slots, and every friday night i run a PUG, so i always password the server, kick everyone, then release the password (sometimes via IRC, rather than a group announcement) and its first in, best dressed. Especially given the 4 slot (or 8 in full game) limit in l4d, there may be times when i want to get on with 3-7 mates and just play, or set it up so 4-8 mates can just play, without having to worry about un-invited people from joining just because they happen to be in the community group, then having to explain to them why they've been kicked. I still think the community stuff, (if its working as advertised, i personally have not even tried setting it up) is still great, but having sv_password as a final line of lockout would make it easy. At least until such time as we have sourcemod for l4d (looks at bl4nk) On Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 10:10 AM, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I read somewhere that settings it to 1 only blocks the first person from > joining.
