Thanks for that link! It's still not entirely clear how the non-MvM quickplay/matchmaking system works, however.
I'm mostly curious about NON-Mvm servers, so I wonder whether "beta" is still beta or is actually everybody. So, on a normal TF2 map: tf_mm_servermode 0 == tf_server_identity_disable_quickplay 1 ? I'm confused, because the MvM-specific kb article says: "A value of 0 will opt your server out of all matchmaking (Default)" Which might be true for MvM, but isn't Quickplay aka matchmaking the "default" for normal maps unless opted-out of? I thought 0 was just opting out of the beta. tf_mm_servermode 1 == non-mvm quickplay So instead of by default all servers being quickplay-enabled, now only those servers setting this variable will be quickplay matchmade? Do all servers wishing to participate in matchmaking/quickplay now need to set this variable to participate? tf_mm_servermode 2 == MvM only mode, only appropriate for MvM servers. If set on a server running a non-MvM map, this would be ignored, I assume. Or at least it's intended never to be used except on those MvM servers which want to be in the quickplay pool. I'd still love a full document from Valve describing the various PvP/MvM/quickplay/not permutations and what they want cvars and servertags to be. - Peter On Sep 21, 2012, at 18:43 PM, DontWannaName! wrote: > Here ya go https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6656-IAZN-7933 > > On Fri, Sep 21, 2012 at 4:26 PM, Peter HLDS <[email protected]> wrote: >> Is there an updated kb article or other source of definitive documentation >> for how matchmaking works in all its permutations? >> >> https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2825-AFGJ-3513 seems out >> of date, since it doesn't include tf_mm_servermode at all. >> >> - Peter >> _______________________________________________ >> To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, >> please visit: >> https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds > > _______________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please > visit: > https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds
