You can take it a step further and use an additional cronjob to transfer your backed-up directories via SFTP. If you don't maintain non-game-server resources on the web that you can administer (or have someone else administer) to grant the necessary access, you could probably get away with using Amazon's AWS free tier instances and a very small amount of EBS storage.
