Here's an official Valve posting. Whether you like it or not, they're partnered in a sense. They provide "official" servers in exchange for the ad revenue.

I don't believe they're financially connected which is why you don't see any specifics about it, basically they provide official servers for Valve and they get to run ads on them even though they're "official" (and apparently from what I hear they run like garbage, but I'll be honest I've never played on one to know.) Granted Pinion's website is pretty basic and really doesn't have any good information, mainly cryptic info about what the plugin does, I really wouldn't expect to see anything on there.
