I wanted to give everyone an update on Killing Floor 2 servers for Early
Access. In the not too distant future we'll be doing an invite beta for
Killing Floor 2 in advance of the Early Access launch of the game. To
support this we're looking to work closely with a few GSPs early on in the
beta process to test out different server specs and configurations and help
us develop recommended specs for hosting servers for KF2 (i.e. report CPU
usage back to us, recommend machine specs, etc). If you run a GSP and are
interested in working with us on testing out server specs, or run a GSP and
are interested in volunteering to put up some servers to support the beta

Regarding hosting servers for Killing Floor 2, here is the current
information (completely subject to change, and likely to change, as we go
through the development cycle):

Ranking:
- Ranked server hosting will be open to everyone GSPs, clans, individuals,
anyone with the right machine specs and a good enough internet connection.
- There is no ranked server list, anyone can just put a server up and it
will be ranked.
- The only things that will unrank a server will be running non-whitelisted
code mods/mutators. It is our plan to be pretty lenient with this, as we
want to encourage adoption of user generated content and mods.

Machine Specs:
- We don't have solid machine specs for the servers yet, and will get more
info during the beta
- Current tests show the CPU usage is about 50% higher than a Killing Floor
1 server (lots more going on in KF2 including physics objects), but
utilizes about 1/3 the CPU usage of a Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm 64
player server. That is with tests done on an Intel E3 1270 @ 3.4GHZ.
- Currently each server instance uses about 1 GB of Ram. We're working to
get this lower, but no guarantees, so stay tuned.
- Servers will require a 64 bit OS.
- We don't have good data on bandwidth usage to share yet, but that should
come out of the beta.
- We don't have final data of what the file footprint on a dedicated server
will be yet.

Misc:
- Linux server support: our goal is to add this during the Early Access dev
cycle, but it would come on during the Early Access period some time after
launch.
- Servers are installed and updated through SteamCMD just like RO2/RS
servers.
- The servers ship with full webadmin support
- Server hosting will likely open up to everyone in the later phases of the
beta, so everyone will have the opportunity to try out servers and get
their machines spec'd out and set up.
