Thanks for the reply Eric. I've been curious why you guys haven't replied to the HL2 questions in HLCoders though. Quite a debate over the C++ vs Scripts and the concern from many that the future of HL2 MODding is with scripting.

Are you just sitting back looking at the discussion like some sort of poll, where you'll make a decision here in the near future on what you'll do with the SDK (e.g. scripting only, or both scripting and C++ direct)?

I'm still disappointed in that we have to learn from other news sites about information, which should have been posted to the relevant list you host (e.g. hlds_apps and hlcoders). I mean, we find more news about server admin stuff on sites that have nothing to do with server admins. FYI, this is still a frustrating issue that seems to be some sort of Valve policy since the beginning.

IMO, you would gain a lot more appreciation and gratitude from the various groups if your PR was better directed. For example, releasing information about a server update for admins on a mapping focused website may have had a positive affect of making mappers feel important, but it sure had a negative affect among admins. Often, the response was, "How come this information was released to a mapping site and not to Valve's admin lists or to an admin focused site like UA?" From my experience, that's just bad PR. FYI, UA just started gathering statistics from all of it's website mirrors (this doesn't include the forums) and within the past 12 hours, UA was getting on average, 3k page views per hour. This is predominately server admins for HL. We still have no idea why you don't leverage this free community resource more?

Anyway, I still hope for a day when your PR is improved. IMO, community focused releases would go a lot further in improving Valve's image to each community.
