This move seems like an unfortunate regression. Poking around the two Source-related forums you list below is revealing. I'd suggest the S/N ratio on this mailing list (hlds_apps) is far better than on the forums. If you want value (relative to the trivial bit-rate needed to carry this list) I can't see the forums being any kind of substitute.
