Dear All;

I would show you all my desktop, but then I would have to kill you. Top
secret, wink, wink, nudge, nudge say no more = >. Actually I'm one of those
people who have multiple systems with no one of them having that oh so cool
desktop. Unless you think halfd is cool, I do. I am curious after seeing so
many people running hlds from the command line, does x-windows really eat up
that many system resources?

But back to desktops been playing around with winxp pro as of late. How bout
that default color setup for winxp, it burns my eyes to look at it at high
res. The colors are just so intense I almost can't see the text. Anyone else
get the same experience.

Brian

You can also accomplish running windowed by making the Registry adjustments
shown in my desktop shot here:

http://www.hardwarefreak.com/hlds/mydtop.jpg

Set the value of the following:

EngineAllowWindowed 1
EngineModeWindowed 1

Also, make sure you change EngineModeH and EngineModeW to a height and width
that will not take up the whole screen. I'm assuming this is the end result
of the "-win" switch, but I didn't know about "-win" when I wanted to run
windowed. So, I went registry hunting, and came up with this method. Note
that I currently play full screen.
