Whoa...you running in Windows? My gaming box is WinXP Pro running on an
AthlonXP 1900+, 512MB PC-133, Visiontek GF4 MX440 (same as you have, I'm
guessing) with the dual VGA outs. I'm currently running the DetXP 40.41
drivers, and I have no problems at all. I've never had any problems
like the one you're describing, actually. What resolution do you run on
your desktops? What size monitors are they? What resolution do you run
for HL?

When you say "it crashes back to the desktop", are there any error
messages or anything that are displayed? Try it windowed just to see
what happens. FYI: when HL or any other app changes your res from a
larger res to a lower res, it will squeeze out the part of the windows
that don't fit in the now-lower res monitor, pushing everything in the
secondary monitor over. I have never been able to solve this problem or
find out if it's a known issue that is or is not on nVidia's to-do list.

Try closing all other programs you have running, making sure that HL is
the only thing, and see what happens. Does it crash as soon as it hits
the HL menu? Or does it crash only when it gets in-game?
