I was able to pick up a Quad Xeon PII 450 2MB cache 1GB 6x 18GB Ultra 160
with Adaptec controller for $3000 cdn. This was in an case 6u case which I
prompty aquired a rackmount case for. Its a pretty sexy machine, and runs
excellent as a win2gay citrix server. I've tried hosting CS on it, it does
a decent job, but its only 450Mhz processors :)

Cheers,

James

Yeah, I'm kinda getting burned out on it as well. I just got home from
work, and I have 150+ emails to go through....

PLUS!! My *new* server arrived via UPS today (right before I left for
work), and I haven't had a chance to open the box yet. Picked up a Quad
PPro 200 Proliant 5000R for $280 on Ebay (including shipping).

For all you hardwarefreaks:

Compaq Proliant 5000R (rackmount)
Quad PPro 200, 256KB cache :( on the cache, would like to have had the
1MB'ers
512MB RAM
5 4.3GB pluggable drives
2 PCI 10/100 NICs
dual hot swap PSUs (480 watt total)

It's not a barn burner by today's standards, but I've always wanted a 4-way
machine, and the price was *right*. It'll be my first experience trying to
get Woody onto a Compaq server. Should be *fun* ;) I don't have source
media, and do all my installs from the mirrors via boot disk. I just hope
the boot disk has support for the Compaq NICs in the machine....
