rgr, it could very well be the cable, but at that speed, I would absolutely go out and buy a p2-500 or something else like that used (or hand-me-down from a friend) and throw up something like http://www.smoothwall.org etc etc.
linksys are good for the average joe just surfing the internet, but I would put much faith in em as for what you are using your connection for. kev ->-----Original Message----- ->From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ->[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Scott ->Pettit ->Sent: Saturday, August 30, 2003 6:14 PM ->To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ->Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] Routers and Things -> -> ->Seeing that you're on cable, I'd be tempted to blame that unless you have ->some kind of service level agreement with your ISP/Provider. ->Cable from what ->I've seen doesn't often give the full advertised speed due to ->congestion on ->your node etc. -> ->When my servers are full I only see them doing around ->40-50Kbyte/sec in and ->out so I wouldn't really say you are maxing your bandwidth.
