Your desired 48 players per server will require about a gig of ram or so. 2 gigs on our dual xeons are ok with our suse linux 8.2 but will also perform well on windows nt server or something! Sorry I can not say anything about the difference between amd and intel we are just running intel based servers not last because of overheating issues with the amds. We had some pIII tualatines before.. were fine but have to do other work now. A dual 1,4 ghz, 2gb can run approx. 80 players without probs. I assume buying opterons isn't very useful cause there arent any 64 bit hlds binaries they will not be able to profit in comparison to cheaper 32 bit cpus. best regards, Zacha _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
