Here you basically say, that you won't bother to actually fix anything, since the hl-engine is about to die anyway? (Since you're only willing to change compiler, not the actual source.) And btw, I assume you use gcc 2.95 now, are you aware that it doesn't even have athlon optimizations? gcc 3.3 with -mcpu=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp should REALLY do something about performance, give us numbers please :)
