Patrick Volkerding (author of Slackware) will sometimes answer your emails personally. I think that just kicks ass ;) A distro is a distro though. Your choice is mostly a matter of personal style, and does not necessarily reflect your level of 1337ness. If you prefer to use emerge instead of installpkg or RPM, well hey, at least with Linux, you have a choices. The urge to trash BSD is strong, however.
