Just get a nice kernel and some nice spec machines and you will have no
problems

Steam servers: 3x 22-slot (4 reserved) Counter-Strike w/ adminmod 2.50.58 + statsme 2.6.17.

Hardware:
Dual Intel Xeon P4 2.8, 4Gb ECC DDR, Seagate Ultra-SCSI3 320 36.4Gb HDD,
Adaptec 39320, Intel Gigabit EtherExpress Pro.

Software:
Slackware Linux 9.1 with -current fixes, only with kernel, init, glibc,
ssh network tools and text tools to bring system up. No apache, no bind,
no ftp, nothing to steal cpu or mem.

Kernels:
2.4.20, 2.4.21, 2.4.22, 2.4.9-ac9, 2.6.0-test3/4/5/6/7/8/9. HZ changed
to 100, 1000 in each release. No additional modules for
hardware/features i don't have.

Network connection:
Summit 48i Gigabit switch, plugged in a Cisco Catalyst 8540 CSRswitch
router, 155Mbit pipe, link usage 75% peak rate, 60% normal usage, < 25%
between 9pm-9am.

This WAS SUPPOSED TO handle a decent game server. Or a Oracle one.
