The game is old, so old I'm surprised they are still supporting it.

If I where answering I would say no. They have their work cut-out creating the
next big thing. They cant afford to spend all their time patching old code.

Either run the servers and put up with the high resource requirements
or dont its your call. If you dont there are people that will, for the time being,
so to be harsh but fair you dont matter someone will fill the gap.
