I would guess the .ztmp file is recreated if the file changes, but since
I didn't write the code I'll have to follow-up with the engineer who
did.

    So here is the big question then, if I update the bsp or res or text
file (or whatever) and there is a ztmp file for the old version is the
program smart enough to detect the ztmp is out of date and recreate it?

The file will only be recreated if you delete it and another client
requests the same resource.
