If you run with "-autoupdate" it does (Linux only for now, we are
working on a win32 solution). So if you run with "-autoupdate" to get
your server to update for non-mandatory updates all you need to do is
send an "rcon quit" to get it to update.

Stupid question here...

Why doesn't hlds auto-check for updates on run then?(For Win and Nix)

It's be nice as it'd allow for less direct adminning ^^ (Yes, I'm sometimes
lazy as I'm having to drive across the US a couple times this next month
with minimal internet.)

Maybe add a random in X maps update 'feature' so a bunch of servers don't
take the BW at once?

Anyhow... Yeah. -_-

If you specify "-autoupdate" directly to one of the hlds_X binaries
(hlds_i686, hlds_i486, hlds_amd or hlds_amd64) it will cause the game to
quit on map change when it detects it is out of date. You will then need
to add some logic to your program to run the "steam" binary to download
the updated files.
