I can understand where u are coming from but it still doesn't in anyway explain why the tables have turned from LinHLDS being the best to Win32HLDS being the best.
HLDS has /always/ run better under Win32.
I noticed it years ago when I first started running servers. It broke my heart right from the beginning that I couldn't reasonably use Linux. I didn't want to believe it, but I extensively tested it at the time (with tweaked/different flavors of 2.4.x, mainly) and I was forced to make the choice of win32 for our servers.
