I can't see metamod being the culprit though. Of the dozens of ports we have
using metamod (official 1.17 and 1.17p6 fast) and addons from none to
adminmod & cdeath, we've seen absolutely no memory leaks. Again, we do not
allow ANY other plugins whatsoever.

Plugin code? I assume Valve provide basic interfacing for plugins but surely
beyond that the code used by the plugins is the responsibility of the writer.
I'm not a programmer and accept I may not be furnished with all the facts
here but I don't see how we can blame Valve for plugin code.

I can certainly say that using metamod, adminmod and cdeath with the
hlds_i686 binary on varying hardware and system setups does not produce
memory leaks. I can only suggest people follow the standard "start bare and
add stuff until it breaks" approach to locate the exact cause of the problem.
