In addition to which it would be nice if it downloaded the
maps/<mapname.txt>, the overviews/<mapname>.txt/bmp and any other server
assets needed for a map.

It downloads *some* but not all which is pretty useless for some of the
more complex DoD (for example) maps since you get clients completely
failing to connect if models are missing.

You need to make .res files for the maps and put it on the server and the sv_downloadurl server.

just use resgen you can get a copy on united-admins.

I think you miss the point...

Which is that surely sv_downloadurl functionality should do this itself.

For example...

It downloads the .bsp but doesn't download the .txt in maps/ For me,
that is a bug
It doesn't download overviews\.txt/bmp - again, a bug.
It *does* download sound\mapsounds\xxx but it doesn't download
models\mapmodels\xxx

Basically It does *some* of the functionality without my intervention, but it is not complete. I can't see why the client couldn't, shouldn't and wouldn't search for *any* missing asset on the sv_downloadurl if it doesn't have it locally.

Either do it right, VALVe, or don't bother.
