For the server, just make sure you start it with:

sv_lan 1
-insecure
-nomaster

If you use AMX(x)/AM, you'll have to setup your admins to use
username/password combos or IPs since you won't be playing with Steam
IDs. Also make sure you change your rcon password from what's used on
your live servers in case someone gets curious at your linux console.

When closing Steam before the event, clients *must* select "Exit" and
not "Exit and Logout". It's best, too, to set a cut-off time for
updating Steam clients, that way everyone's on the same version. In the
event that someone is outdated however, you can copy over cache files.

During our small event, two people had problems with expiring Steam
tickets, even though they had not selected "Exit and Logout". We were
able to just setup a quick dial-up for them to get a valid ticket, but I
imagine this'll be impossible for you out in the sticks. Maybe ask
someone with a laptop to bring a cellular modem with 'em and setup
Internet sharing with it :) It only takes a minute online to get a valid
ticket.

Also bring all the installation files for any third-party mods you'll
play. Science & Industry and The Specialist are definite hits!

Probably more than you were lookin for, but maybe someone else had
questions :)
