I purposely installed 3.3 on all my machines, and I run either testing or unstable, stable tends to be way too old.
If you have ssh access, why not upgrade to testing or unstable? Despite the name "unstable" I've never seen any of my unstable machines crash. Let me know if you aren't sure how to switch to testing/unstable.
