I have a problem with one of my Counter-Strike 1.6 dedicated servers. I host
six 12 slots private Counter-Strike 1.6 servers on a Gentoo Linux 64-bit
system. The hardware I use is a Tyan K8S Pro motherboard, 1 GB of ECC PC2700
and a.t.m. only one AMD Opteron 244 processor.

A client of mine has a lot of problems with their server and I cannot find
the cause of the problems. It's not real lag, the ping is constand between
12 and 15 ms. But after a few hours of uptime the gameplay is really
terrible, movement is really jerky especcilay when running on the slopes.

I use the following rate settings:
sv_maxrate 20000
sv_minrate 2500
sv_maxupdaterate 101
sv_minupdaterate 20
sys_ticrate 150

And this is the start-up line of the server:
hlds_run -game cstrike -secure -port 27015 +ip XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
+servercfgfile server.cfg +mapchangecfgfile server.cfg +maxplayers 12 +map
de_dust -pingboost 2

Now I've already tried different combinations like with and without
-pingboost and the same for sys_ticrate. Also the other gameservers use the
exact same configuration settings as this server and I have no problems with
them whatsoever. Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of the
extremely jerky gameplay that starts after a few hours of uptime. Also when
I completely restart the server the problem seems to go away. Also once the
problem has started it does not get worse of less bad with changes in server
load. Memory usage is only 450 MB.
