write a php script which makes a live "rcon status" lookup on the server and check the IP... if valid client passthru the file he requested. best method i think...

Maybe its possible to redirect the MOTD file tot the map-server, then log the users IP , then check mapdownload against the IP of the people how viewed the MOTD. As the MOTD gets downloaded before the map. this would be an good check of when the user are referred from your gameserver.
