You only had to redo the entire command line - ie - -command update -dir . -game ?? -username [EMAIL PROTECTED] -password whatever -remember_password
You dont have to create a new account.

We have the same issue, but do not wish to make another account, there are far to many servers for us to change the login on.

after trying to update the server via autoupdate i got this message
"Using SSE2 Optimised binary. Auto-restarting the server on crash Updating server using Steam. Checking bootstrapper version ... Updating Installation Logging in as 'pleite2css' Login has expired, use password Fri Nov 5 11:27:21 CET 2004: Steam Update failed, ignoring."
the server was not running very good so i decided to reinstall the whole server. i wasn't able to update the server via steam. i had to create a new account, why this???
and i think the whole server directoy is bigger than before. the size is about 1gb now? is this correct? or did i download the whole client version now? am i able to download ONLY the ded. server files?
