Doesn't Alfred still live in New Zealand and deal almost exclusively
with server stuff? I think it's highly possible that he gets quite a
few emails like this, and it's also highly possible that he may honestly
have no info on VAC. It's also highly possible that, assuming he knows
who'd be "The Man" to talk to in regards to VAC, that person does not
want or need lots of individuals constantly distracting him with useless
"MAKE VAC NOW OR DIE" emails.

The guy had some valid questions. VALVe should have an answer to them. That answer should be somewhere, on a website, in a mailout, a contactable person who can provide the info.

Its not like these question are time consuming or financially expensive
ones to answer, nor could they be in any sane means commercially
sensitive. Its not like his question arent some of the most common ones
asked.

Expecting someone at VALVe to be able to give out an answer as
reasonable as the question was, isnt too left field for you?

I know the idea of customer support may seem outrageous to some...

I'm not saying that's necessarily the case, but sheesh, give the guy a break and, hopefully, the benefit of the doubt. Remember, Alfred used to be "one of us", a regular ol' server admin with some coding experience who put together the fabulous original Admin_Mod. Remember?

And good on him for it, but that has no relevance to any of this. He could have been a former president for all I know. The guy had reasonable questions, is it not reasonable for those questions to have an answer, somewhere, for people to see?
