There's also a situation where a normal user has an issue authing to steam. It seems that his auth process simply gets stuck and never completes. Usually kicking the player and forcing him to reconnect to the server solves the problem and he auths correctly the second time. Also occasionally we've seen ALL players on a server go steam_id_pending due to temporary problems with Steam.
What I'm saying here is just because you see a player with steam_id_pending doesn't mean he is for sure using a hack. >There's some kind of exploit/hack out that gives the user a permanent >pending steam id.
