You can find a modified version at http://angrypanda.dyns.net:81/~panda/downloads/hlds_start with the username length fix, and probably more bugs than the original.
Thanks, looking them over now. First thing I did was diff them, and it looks like the latter just has the initial comments stripped and some parameters changed. No logic changes.
