currently I would prefer an Athlon64 myself. I'm running an Athlon64 2800+ with 768MBDDRAM and 4 x 16 public Slots CS 1.6 with AMXMODX 1.01 on it.
Is there a 64-bit binary for HL2 (CS:S)? (EA/DICE is going to be offering 64-bit binaries for BF2, claiming higher performance. Ryan Gordon was offering 64-bit UT2k4 binaries for awhile. He stopped as it was a proof of concept to test the build system and he said it didn't offer any performance improvement over 32-bit binaries.) I'm currently using a dual-Xeon but my next server will likely be AMD64. Does anyone make a "multi-OS" box? I was thinking of setting up a kind of dual system, Linux and Win32, with Linux facing the Internet and having a second NIC connecting to the Win32 system on a private subnet. That would let me run servers for those obnoxious games that don't have Linux binaries, while still having the security and versatility of a Linux box facing the world. (Nostalgia time: Anyone remember running a PC-AT card in an Amiga for DOS compatibility?) _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
