The 64bit hlds binaries have problems the most important of which is lack of VAC support. I do not run the 64bit version of any OS for game servers as running the process through linux32 seems to be slower than running with a standard 32bit kernel/libraries. (on the webhosting side we use 64bit OS for all our database servers as there is a big performance gain. for web servers it doesn't really seem to make much of a difference when you also use ssl accelerators)
