As someone thats actually helped build a large data center (For a carrier),
I will tell you that 1)  you would need more room for batteries than you
could have for a Data Center if you want more than a few minutes of backup.
Batteries are there until the Diesel Generators can kick in...  Also, few
municipalities will let you have enough Diesel generators to actually handle
a Data Center because they are so loud...  All you can really do is get
power diversity if possible, and try to protect against transient power
outages.

All of this is moot if your internet and network connectivity is also cut
