-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] As someone thats actually helped build a large data center (For a carrier), I will tell you that 1) you would need more room for batteries than you could have for a Data Center if you want more than a few minutes of backup. Batteries are there until the Diesel Generators can kick in... Also, few municipalities will let you have enough Diesel generators to actually handle a Data Center because they are so loud... All you can really do is get power diversity if possible, and try to protect against transient power outages.
