Working with a 6.06.1 LTS Ubuntu Kernel is 2.6.15-28

I have created and changed owner over the /srcds_l directory on my box.

>From there I have updated to 100% the ./steam -command update -game tf

Running that several times I have reached 100%.

Then when attempting to run ./srcds_run -console -game tf +map ctf_2fort I =
get either Unable to load module bin/datacache_i486.so (when running from /=
srcds_l/tf2/orangebox)

Or: I get Invalid game type 'tf' specified when trying to run the same comm=
and from /srcds_l

Any advice/help is appreciated. : )

I got

270 x 60 seconds x 60 minutes x 24 hours x 31 days = 723.16 GB per
month, but that is at 24 players every second of every day, which is
pretty much impossible. I would figure around 500-600GB on a popular
server. Sound right?

I just installed srcds on my dedicated server and when I run rcon stats it
always says 99.90 cpu even if the server is empty.

The server is a:
Pentium 4 3.06ghz HT
2gb ram
Fedora 6

I have been running top to monitor my cpu usage and it never says much more
then 65% and everything else is at 0%.

I tweaked my kernel tu run at 1000hz and the other standard kernel tweaks.
I tried lowering the srcds' nice level so it would have a higher priority
and it always says it's using 99.90 % even if top says 7%.

Is this a bug in srcds? should the listed cpu usage be accurate?

I've been running a tf2 server at 100 ticks and 512fps and it does randomly
drop to 70fps but very rarly.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Ok, let's see. That's
200 * 60 = 12000k/min / 1024 = 11.72MB/min * 60 = 703.13MB/hr * 24 =
16,875MB/day * 30 = 506,250MB/month / 1024 = 494.38GB/month
70 * 60 = 4200k/min / 1024 = 4.1MB/min * 60 = 246.1MB/hr * 24 = 5,906MB/day
* 30 = 177,187.5MB/month / 1024 = 173GB/month
667.38GB/month total.

If I'm doing the math right here, I should be in the clear with 2TB/month of
allotted monthly bandwidth.

They are in there as of 2.6.21 kernels (I think). It's in the same config
page as the processor type/kernel hz.

They are awesome. Basically, instead of telling the kernel "check for stuff
to do every 1ms" it tells the kernel "do stuff when there is stuff to do".
So if the server is idle, it theoretically uses less CPU and power.

Hi,

Would it be possible to has a 25th hidden slot? This will allowe us to
easally join a server with a reserved slot to perform admin duties and such.
With a low slot limit of 24 its a waste of space to keep 1 slot constantly
open for admins.

cheers,

Saint K.

Hi

Use hlsw to look at your rcon stats.
When typing rcon stats in console in game he takes the stats from your pc.
But in hlsw you don't need to type rcon, only stats is enouf.

why not install hlsw and then you don't have a need for an extra slot for
admin proposes.

Yes you can, but it doesn't work, because any idiot can use the slot by
joing via console or typing retry.

Whisper:
I believe all of the things he has on the list deal with HL2DM itself and
not plugins.

Mannis.House:
The chat thing has been acknowledged as a bug and will be fixed sometime. (I
think Valve is pretty busy with the Orange box right now).

The buggy was never supported on HL2DM, and if mappers figured out a way to
get it to work for a while that's fine. Valve has no reason or
responsibility to "fix" the buggy that was never intended to be part of
HL2DM anyway.

The same goes for npcs, such as zombies and headcrabs. They were never
intended to work on HL2DM and if some maps were using them, that's their
problem. Valve has no reason or responsibility to "fix" them either.

Basically, the only complaint from above that seems likely to be addressed
is getting the chat fixed.
