Thanks for the reply :)
With the server many miles away i dont have access to the console just
someone on the phone who plugged in a monitor and read off what was on the
console. I was really looking to find out if there was any known issues with
my combination of hardware / software as i look after numerous servers
running 32 bit centos but running other stuff rather than hlds / srcds as my
day job and we hardly ever have segfault crashes but this new game server
keeled over after being online for no more than a week.
I'm thinking the problem is hardware related - possibly hard disks as
something very strange is going on with what the o/s thinks the size of them
is and what the drives actually are!
Thanks again
Al

Hey guys,
Looking for some tips, my box died last night with a segfault on the
console, i'm suspecting the cause could be a bad choice of hardware /
o/s installation it would be great if someone could either confirm or
deny this suspicion.
You mean the whole box died, ie. the kernel crashed? If so it could be
either a hardware issue or a kernel bug. The kernel outputs a lot of
useful information in these circumstances, however you'd need to hook
up a serial console to get it if the box crashes hard.
Do we need to re install a 32 bit o/s or do you reccomend looking
elsewhere for the segfault culprit.
I'm not sure why you think running in 32bit mode would make any
difference?
