Noob questions coming up (have patience!)

I'm thinking - only thinking of getting a dedicated Linux server to run my
TF2 game on. I already got a "slot" on a server with a really great provider
that hasn't let me down. But i'm thinking - i stress thinking of getting a
dedicated one to play about with.

Can someone help me along with explaining how this works? (and the correct
terminology)

1) How many 'instances' of a game can i run on a dedicated server?

2) I know that the (example) IP of my current set-up is 12.345.678.90 - and
this might be on a shared server as i have a port number *:12345* at the end
of the IP?? Is that correct?

3) If i am correct then i am currently just one 'instance' of TF2 on a
dedicated server run by my provider?

4) Can I run more than 1 type of game on a dedi server?

5) What about security?

6) I read all you guys emails about the set-up of the server, I take a look
at the pics you provide to show performances, try to understand the command
line stuff you go on about (fps, boost and other variables etc) - will i
have to thoroughly learn how to set it up like you lot? (in other words,
become more geeky than i already am as a Web Dev fluent in a couple of
languages)

7) Any other helpful (non-condescending) advice for a noob?

Very much appreciated,

Pat
