VPS machines aren't very good game hosting machines, due to the shared
resources the program is trying to allocate to all of the VPS machines.
Likely you're hitting a spike where you need extra CPU on one or another
VPS and so the machine re-allocates it to another VPS...causing your
current server to slow down or not work properly.

Mapload is based on RAM available to the VPS as well as the hard drive
bandwidth you have. Once it's loaded in memory it's faster but the first
load will always be slow if the hard drive is limiting the amount of
bandwidth through the interface.

You might be able to run the server on a properly configured VPS
machine, but I don't know enough about it to be able to recommend
anything. You'd really be better off hosting the servers on a box with
one operating system installed.
