Continuing with current version anyway.

Add "-debug" to the ./hlds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help
with solving this problem

I don't see why a 32bit operating system would cause you any trouble, 
just make sure you got PAE turned on and you will be fine.

PAE is not really a solution only a workaround. And I still have to 
reinstall all the servers to a 32bit version...

The Linux kernel includes full PAE support starting with version 2.6, 
enabling access of up to 64 GB of memory on 32-bit machines. A 
PAE-enabled Linux-kernel requires that the CPU also support PAE.
