Little plug for an app called Server Query (not maintained anymore), but its
source is available and supports many games.

http://www.serverquery.com/

It has a LAN filter which I think could help you.

What you might want to do is (thinking out loud here) put a copy of this
program on each subnet on your next LAN party network, and modify it so that
it forwards all of the games found to a central location where other players
on different subnets can view a centralised list.

Well, thats the problem with LAN Parties, is that over a certain size the
broadcasts that smaller LAN Parties can handle, just aren't possible which
is entirely what the idea of a LAN Party would be. I wonder if you could
put a stub network out there and replicate what the master servers do with
regards of providing lists of currently running games. Could be a thought,
but most likely more difficult that it would be worth.

The LAN Parties I run, we simply wrote an application to show currently
running game servers using GameQ (a PHP library which queries game servers
and gives info like the in game lists would do) and added one-click launch
buttons for Steam and Xfire. That was very heavily used at our last event
and everyone enjoyed it. Downside is until I get around to writting code to
actually search for servers using broadcasts, you have to add each server by
hand. Which isn't bad, but I know MANY gamers run their own servers in
addition to the official ones hosted by us.

I wish there was a better way to do LAN games than simply broadcasts, it
sure would make our lives much easier!
