Well, thats the problem with LAN Parties, is that over a certain size the broadcasts that smaller LAN Parties can handle, just aren't possible which is entirely what the idea of a LAN Party would be. I wonder if you could put a stub network out there and replicate what the master servers do with regards of providing lists of currently running games. Could be a thought, but most likely more difficult that it would be worth. The LAN Parties I run, we simply wrote an application to show currently running game servers using GameQ (a PHP library which queries game servers and gives info like the in game lists would do) and added one-click launch buttons for Steam and Xfire. That was very heavily used at our last event and everyone enjoyed it. Downside is until I get around to writting code to actually search for servers using broadcasts, you have to add each server by hand. Which isn't bad, but I know MANY gamers run their own servers in addition to the official ones hosted by us. I wish there was a better way to do LAN games than simply broadcasts, it sure would make our lives much easier!
