segfault are normal with valve's software (at least with hlds), but not 
at that rate.

These would be my steps, if I were you:
Firstly:
rm ~/.steam
and install clean srcds - no plugins, no modules
0. turn off intel EIST/speedstep (if you have it)
1. use -binary to force hlds/srcds engine
2. reboot the rig
3. switch ACPI on again
4. turn off cpufreq scaling
5. switch to never/older kernel - due to cpu scheduler changes
6. I don't know which GNU/Linux distro are you using, but try to use 
another type of kernel (ex. in gentoo gentoo-sources, than 
vanilla-source etc.)
7. check your architecture in kernel Processor features and other 
options in that category.
