As mentioned earlier it can be done by running the following commands:

shutdownserver
maxplayers 24
map de_dust2

Thanks all for your suggestions, but when a customer restarts the  
server from his panel, the command line executes automatically the  
right slot count. Which is why I don't understand how he does it and  
makes me wonder if it has something to do with the autoupdate commande  
line.
